The Thorn Gamma 6 was once a common sight across many Irish (and British) towns and villages from the 1980s right through to the early 2000s. It could take everything from SOX and SON lamps to mercury vapour and even incandescent bulbs. They were mostly installed in estates and residential areas here. The different canopy styles gave each installation its own character and the glow and warm-ups from them are always so beautiful. This is also my favourite lantern!
I really love the look of these lanterns and they are always so stunning when lit up. As of currently, I have only seen ones with SON lamps. These pictures are from the same estate and they are slowly being replaced with LEDs but the Gamma 6's are still the majority there for now.
